Wolfgang is the first project entirely designed by Luca Nichetto in 2011 in Stockholm, and its name is an homage to the hospitality he received by Wolfgang Studio and a good omen for the beginning of a new “Scandinavian life”. Also the curved wood used for the seatback and seat, perfectly harmonized with the solid wood of the legs and of the frame, explicitly recalls Scandinavian design. The wood treatment techniques have inspired the project, whose concept arises from the observation of the chair designed by Hans J. Wegner and from the chair produced by Michael Thonet, both characterized by a unique use of this material. After the Wolfgang chair, produced by Fornasarig and exhibited in Milan in 2011, a new collection of chairs made of natural wood has seen the light; the chairs are wholly or partially painted with colours inspired by mural paintings, or padded and upholstered with a wide range of fabrics. As of today, the Wolfgang collection comprises the following items:
Wolfgang Chair and Armchair, Wolfgang 54, upholstered Wolfgang Lounge, Wolfgang Lounge with high back and Ottoman, Wolfgang Bar Stool, Wolfgang Metal, Wolfgang Table and Bar Table, Wolfgang coffee tables e side tables in four sizes. All the items of the collection have been conceived with the same design philosophy and finishes.
Wolfgang Chair and Armchair Explicitly inspired by Scandinavian design, Wolfgang Chair and Wolfgang Armchair are the two forefathers of the Wolfgang collection. They feature seatbacks and seats made of curved laminated oak wood, and solid wood frames and legs; they can be painted in a wide array of colours or upholstered with a wide range of fabrics.
Wolfgang 54 Wolfgang 54 maintains the same shape that characterizes the entire collection, while changing its proportions and function; this chair is designed in two different seat heights, it is bigger and thus more comfortable, thanks to the variable density polyurethane padding.
Upholstered Wolfgang Lounge Designed for relax and waiting areas, Wolfgang Lounge features an oak wood frame. The padding is made of variable density polyurethane and the seat springing is obtained through elastic straps.
Wolfgang Lounge with High Back and Ottoman Nichetto explores new possibilities of the collection, by recalling its main characteristics in the lounge chair with high back. The Scandinavian design is preserved and enhanced through the elegance of the curves and the comfort of the padding and the springing. The effect obtained is immediate and right to the point, and this chair becomes a crucial piece of any interior.
Wolfgang Bar Stool This stool is inspired by the elegance and the skills of Scandinavian woodworking. The stool represents the concrete and visual extension of the Wolfgang chair, where the peculiar seat and seatback tower over the high wooden legs. The stool can be ideally paired with an high table, in a domestic, office, bar or restaurant environment.
Wolfgang Metal With this project, Luca Nichetto has pushed the collection towards new and bold directions. Wolfgang Metal is inspired by the original model, but it replaces the wooden frame with a thin metal frame, while maintaining the seatback and seat of the original piece. Thanks to its reduced weight, the new chair can be stacked up to 25 pieces, to facilitate storage and transport. Wolfgang Metal is a versatile chair, ideal in many different contexts.
Wolfgang Table and Bar Table The tables, inspired by the elegance and skills of Scandinavian woodworking, complete the collection. The tables recall the curves and the wooden frame of the Wolfgang chair in its two heights - dining and bar - making them the ideal match for all the chairs of the collection.
Wolfgang Coffee Tables and Side Tables Three diameters and three different heights for the small tables made of oak wood, which feature a frame that matches the Wolfgang collection.
Structure Solid wood and laminated oak structure.
Painting Environmentally-friendly painting. The wood colour can be chosen from the colour palette. Special finishes upon request.
Padding The seat springing is obtained through elastic straps. Variable density polyurethane padding. Fabric or leather chosen from our fabric sheet or supplied by the client.
