WICONA LAUNCHES FULL RANGE OF CURTAIN WALLING, WINDOW AND DOOR SYSTEMS IN THE UK

Following the success of its bespoke façade solutions, Wicona has launched a range of technically advanced and high performance aluminium curtain walling, window and door systems in the UK for a comprehensive range of applications.

The systems deliver high specification performance for complex projects and are engineered to push the boundaries of aluminium façades, whilst balancing cost efficiency with the latest advances in façade technology.

Developed in Germany, this standardised range of systems has already been widely used internationally. Architects and contractors in the UK now have the opportunity to specify highly engineered but proven solutions to realise the most ambitious building designs.

The range of systems includes:

• WICTEC curtain walling – a classic ‘stick’ system, roof glazing, structural glazing and a unitised curtain walling system • WICLINE windows – a wide variety of open-out and open-in configuration options such as tilt/turn, double vents, concealed sash, round/arched, parallel tilt/slide, parallel vent, horizontal or vertical pivots, top hung casements and roof vents • WICSTYLE heavy duty doors – various profile depths for multiple applications; options with or without insulation, and smoke control and emergency exit doors • Security technology – the curtain walling, window and door systems can also be supplied to the European standards RC1 to RC3 for security and burglary resistance, and a choice of profile combinations allows bullet resistance to class FB4.

This initiative allows Wicona to offer both standardised systems and bespoke solutions in the UK, supported by the in-house expertise of its technical team who will work with specifiers and contractors to develop applications from the first sketch to final installation and handover. The Wicona team will also assist with the production of 3D technical drawings, fabrication detailing, and cost calculations for estimating.

Commenting on this latest development, Jon Palethorpe, Director for Wicona, said, “The addition of such a full range of profile systems enables us to offer specifiers in the UK an even wider choice of high performance façade products, to make more ideas a reality. Wicona is a market-leading brand across Europe and uses advanced German engineering which we can combine with unrivalled technical support and a network of fabricators here in the UK.”

In addition to its wealth of technical support, Wicona provides a range of technology-based specification tools to assist with façade design, including downloadable technical information, an ‘ideas’ app, and Wicona Finder – an architectural database and invaluable source of innovative design solutions for curtain walling, windows and doors.

Wicona systems are installed by its national network of highly trained and approved fabricators and installers.

Applications of Wicona façade solutions in the UK include acclaimed projects such as The Cube in Birmingham designed by Make; roof glazing for an 800-seat auditorium at Yarm School, and unitised curtain walling for Sheffield’s tallest building – a 101m tower that forms part of the City Lofts St Paul’s Apartments scheme. Specification details of all these projects and others can be found on the Wicona Finder architectural database or via the Wicona iPad app.
