Producers felt a need to detail the nuts and bolts of the construction, while the possible scope of the design was left to the more intuitive to work out. Functionality was key, design conventional. Another comfort feature is the facility for backrest height adjustment. This provides optimum lumbar support by applying only slight pressure for individual adjustment to the needs of different body sizes and weights. The synchronous mechanism moves the seat surface synchronously relative to the backrest. Leaning back causes the seat surface to lower, providing optimum active dynamic sitting comfort. Leaning back is made exceptionally comfortable by an extra-large opening angle between seat and backrest – without causing the dreaded shirt-riding-up effect. The newly developed synchronous mechanism also offers convenient weight regulation: The backrest support force can be steplessly and precisely adjusted to the weight of the user. Depending on individual preferences, the Volume 8 can be supplied with T or ring arm rests, either of which are height adjustable. There are two office swivel chair variants to choose from with different backrest heights, as well as two types of conference chair.
