The earthly element fire rises and points upwards the sky. Used here as a symbol, the natural appearance remains active and identifiable. The fire is either out or lit. A volcano which is dangerous as well as fertile, suggests the principal of its use : both free and responsible. This artificial volcano becomes a foyer to gather around, to warm up, to give some light and to be satiated. The furniture comprises an initial central set of 90 identical sections supporting the combustion cone, 20 mm from a second set to control the heat conduction : 90 different sections piece together the volcano's peripheral and organic shape, and separate users from the nearest flames. Its shape, with outward radiating fins, allows heat to be rapidly diffused into the air, and to efficiently cool the directly ventilated metallic structure.
