Bangkok, Thailand 31 August 2014 – DXI Living, a growing, high-end brand for hand castres in home & hotel accessories, furniture and lighting introduces their new hand cast and polished table lamp art piece, Tower. A clean geometric profile serves as the canvas for the painterly swirls and stirs of the two contrasting pigments – each piece is unique as the artisans who cast and mix the colors for the lamps work “blind” as the metal molds obscure the coloring during the casting process.
Designed by New York- born designer and entrepreneur, Ian Leong, the Tower lamp design, consists of two parts: a deep-lacquer black base polished to high gloss and a detachable and rotatable upper shade. The simple block-like form serves as a canvas for the painterly effects of the hand-colored resin and also the bubbles trapped in the hardened resin during the curing process. Like the inclusions in natural amber, Ian believes the bubbles and the uncontrollability of the pigments stirred in the resin enhance the beauty of each piece and strongly connect the artisans with the finished product with the final consumer.
Colors available for this fall 2014 collection include indigo blue, slate, cognac, moss and orchid.
Each lamp stands a full 36 cm high – comprising two parts: a 6 cm high x 11 x 11 cm base and a detachable shade (h 30 x 10 x 10 cm). The shade can be rotated to view each unique side of the shade . Also the shade can be removed and inverted depending on the owner’s preference.
