Hunter Douglas is known for its hallmarks - innovation and enhancement. The company that revolutionised the window covering industry and pioneered the development and marketing of metal suspended ceiling systems worldwide, has turned its attention to a whole new product category, non-metal suspended acoustic ceilings with a textile surface. The list of requirements for a suspended acoustic ceiling includes a clean, monolithic look, long-term durability, ease of installation, random access to the plenum, and outstanding acoustic performance. The revolutionary patented design of Techstyle acoustic ceilings provides all these features.

Techstyle acoustic ceilings are suspended ceilings with superior acoustics and fashion-forward good looks. Their unique honeycomb structure enables the panels to absorb both high and low frequencies. The panels are capable of spanning as much as 1.5 square meters without sagging, and combine a sleek monolithic appearance with a smooth textile surface. The panels feature a novel clip / hinge system which provides easy access to the plenum while keeping the traditional grid concealed and maintaining a monolithic appearance. The unrivalled honeycomb structure and the compressible composite (patent pending) mean that the panels have a lower weight per square meter than conventional ceilings, making them easier to handle, ship and install. The lightweight structure allows more pieces to be shipped per package, reducing the weight of each package by about 33%, and also reducing the amount of on-site packaging waste.

The combination of panels which can be as large as 1200mm square and an extremely narrow reveal (6mm) gives a monolithic appearance, resembling that of plasterboard, which coupled with the panels' smooth ultra-white textile surface provides an upmarket ceiling at an affordable price. Weighing less than 1 kg/m2, TechstyleTM acoustic ceilings are amongst the lightest self-supporting acoustic panels in the industry, capable of spanning the largest unsupported area. The weight is in fact less than 40% of the weight of conventional mineral ceilings. The proprietary composition allows the panels to be highly compressible. Impact or temporary deformation has no effect; the impact is absorbed and the panel immediately reverts to its original shape.
Its unique honeycomb structure gives the ceiling superior acoustic properties.
Unlike most other ceilings it is able to absorb both high and low frequencies.
TechstyleTM acoustic ceilings are surprisingly effective at reducing noise over the whole frequency range from 100Hz all the way up to 5000Hz, with an overall sound absorption average (SAA) of .89 and a noise reduction co-efficient (NRC) of .85.

TechstyleTM panels contain more than 10% of recycled material are themselves completely recyclable. The product's inorganic structure is inhospitable to mould and mildew. Because no volatile organic compounds are emitted, air quality is unaffected.
