Designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1973, Tamburo has been a permanent feature of the catalog ever since. It is one of those timeless products, but this does not mean it is speechless. Instead, it talks. Its head, set on top of a long stem with a triangular-shaped section, looks like a big eye that imperturbably observes human events from a height. Its glance (the light) is directed downwards and seems to be shaded by long lashes (the finned ring nut). Tamburo becomes human through its slightly tilted head. This is what makes the “stiff” luminaire a friendly companion.
