Folditure’s new lounge chair invites you to sit back and relax in comfort in front of a fireplace, around a coffee table or aboard a time capsule. Star makes a statement in any setting with its sleek lines and powerful, yet relaxing presence. Its stunning look comes without compromising comfort: the backrest is wide and gently curved to provide full back support, and the inviting seat is made of breathable, sturdy mesh fabric.
Alexander’s inspiration for Star is the enigmatic Mayan civilization, which developed in isolation from other ancient cultures: “As I analyzed the flaws of folding furniture designs, I realized they were confined by geometries invented by the ancient Egyptians. And I wondered how the Maya, from their unique perspective, would have built a folding chair. They inspired me to solve familiar problems with unconventional solutions and this has been the heart of my designs, and my pursuit of harmony of function and form.” says the designer.
Precision-cut and handcrafted in the USA from the highest-grade eco-harvested birch plywood, Star is the natural continuation of Folditure’s unique, 21st century sculptural furniture vision. It joins the groundbreaking Leaf dining chair, still the thinnest folding dining chair ever made at 0.625 inches wide, and Maya, a dining chair in wood. Like all Folditure designs, when not in use Star can be hung in the closet or displayed on the wall as a contemporary piece of art.
