The "Solar Balcony", a solution that has been created by FOTOTHERM to answer to the thousands of persons which live into high buildings in the Towns and which cannot have the possibility to install a Solar plant, because of the missing space to can do the plant. It is since long time that there is an open discussion about the possibility to give an answer to this need, in particular about the possibility that each Apartment can have its Solar plant for electric and thermal energy (for Hot Water). A lot of solutions have been proposed, but none has solved the main problem of missing space to can do the plant.
FOTOTHERM had the idea by which it possible to realize a Solar plant for electric and thermal energy (hot water) production in each Apartment of a Building; the only need is to have a Balcony with good exposition to the South (not to the East, West or North), minimum 3,35 meters Balcony long, and the Gas boiler in the Balcony; the electric system is OFF GRID (not connected to the Electric Counter Meter) so you do not need any Permit or Authorization from the Electric Authority.
The Solar Balcony is composed by two, three, or four FOTOTHERM Thermo-photovoltaic Modules, installed in Vertical Position outside the Balcony, and it cogenerates at the same time electric energy and thermal energy.
