The Reverso collection is a family of mouth-blown glass lighting appliances. Made in Venice by experienced glass blowers, it is an expression of the great glass-blowing tradition. Using different glass cutting and finishing techniques, Reverso appears as a special combination of man and machine work, the magic of mouth-blown glass and the lighting technology of Artemide.
The design concept of Reverso draws inspiration from the search for solutions that provide the user with countless options to interact with and change light. The outer glass pane can be flipped up and down to create new designs of the object and to refresh the appearance of light in space. The inner cone that holds both the support for the outer shape and the light source also acts as a light diffuser and a downlight reflector. This collection comes to embrace multiple levels of interaction between: - the material and the space - light performance and the finishing - semi industrial and artisanal - transparency and opal - North and south pole
This light creates 3 spaces. The space with in the diffuser, the space between the diffuser and the glass shape, the space between the glass shoe and the architecture.
The glass blowing process is semi industrial and in juxtaposition to the technology of the light source and its performance. The Glass is hand finished. A post production artisan work as in cold cutting and engraving and or the technological material application such as metalizing , all come to support the complexity of a product that is techno poetic and industrially performing.
Reversing the form of the outer glass part gives the possibility to experience a different formation in space and change the appearance of the light.
