Regine Schumann

In the series of exhibitions "Flashlight" in the Judith Andreae Art Gallery one's view immediately focuses upon the core of the artistic works, the thought processes of the central characteristics of the artists, as the bright lights of headlights fix our gaze. FLASHLIGHT ONE was dedicated to Regine Schumann. Through her works she deals with perception, colour, light and space. Her objects shine intensely under the influence of black light in the darkened exhibition rooms. These objects have been industrially crafted using lime-proof pigments and synthetic materials closely following the artist's concept. The clarity of the minimised shapes and colour, repetition and arrangements in series as well as the supremely pictorial qualities of this unique exhibition format interact well with Achim Mohné's intense "sound" works and Michel Houellebecq's poems recited by Carlos Garcia Piedras. Regine Schumann's works can be viewed permanently in the old, vaulted cellars of the historical school building which houses the Judith Andreae Art Gallery.
