This project by GijsMoonen focuses on sensory activation for visually impaired children with Cerebral Visual Disturbances (CVI) disorder. This disorder makes it difficult to process visual and physical sensations. Information is therefore not correctly processed by the brain, thus making the processing of emotion difficult.
In order to make the right decisions for this project, Moonen teamed up with a Dutch organization specialized in working with CVI patients calledKoninklijke Visio Breda. With their information, Moonen was able to developan interactive light object that stimulates the senses: touch, hearing and sight.
The pattern that is formed in the wood guides the user around the object to four special buttons. These buttons make noise and turn coloured lights on and off. This transforms the light and atmosphere within the room.
