MakeItMetal manufactures real metal veneer coatings on almost any surface to create the look, texture, and feel of real metal. These metal coatings not only allow for unlimited design capabilities, they are far more economically and environmentally responsible than traditional sheet metal, metal laminates, plating, or casting. MakeItMetal offers over 800 different veneers, which can be applied on both interior and exterior surfaces to yield a luxurious metal finish.
Product specifications MakeItMetal sources various types of recycled metals from all over North America, which are then ground into a fine powder. The metal powder is mixed with their proprietary polyester-based binding agent and a catalyst (MEKP). This can then sprayed, poured, brushed or trowelled onto almost any surface. Once air-cured for 8 hours, the veneer can be sanded, scotchbrited, acid-washed and polished to achieve the desired finish. Once finished, the veneer is 97% real metal with the remainder being the polyester-based binding agent. The veneer is fire spread rated, strong enough to withstand a 1600psi impact, contains relatively low VOCs (compared with casting or electroplating) and includes a UV inhibitor to prevent discoloration. MakeItMetal guarantees their veneer for up to 30 years, depending on the project. Applications include interior/exterior walls, doors, frames, all types of furniture, appliques, mouldings, accents, rails. All finishes can be clear-coated to protect the finish from environmental factors or one can skip the clear-coat, creating a “living” finish which will age and tarnish as real metal does over time.
