Lola is a city street lighting product developed by Arianna in collaboration with the Barcelona-based Lagranja design firm. Selected for the Golden Compass (Compasso d’Oro) award, Lola also received the Delta de Plata ADI-FAD 2012 international industrial design award. This luminaire stands out for its elegant, unfussy lines designed to blend seamlessly with a whole range of different urban surroundings. The sinuous shapes and lightness of the profile make it the ideal solution for lighting historical and modern places alike. The product's aesthetic qualities sit comfortably alongside the cornerstones of Arianna's research: energy saving and technological innovation. The use of the total reflection patent effectively ensures uniform lighting and high standards of visual comfort.

Lola has been conceived as a balance between efficient LED solution and aesthetic qualities. The original design arises as a response to technical needs: each single part is not just ephemeral but has a functional side. The necessity was to find an elegant structure to fit the patented reflector. The technology is the heart of the luminaire, and our desire was to find a beautiful body to house it. Starting from this point, the Langranja Studio designed a structure to solve practical needs in an aesthetical way. Lola’s outer cover stands out for it is smaller and flatter than traditional street lamps. This specific form has been inspired by radiator, since it was conceived to dissipate temperature generated by the light source. The result is a compact head that does not admit compromise with useless embellishments. Such a discreet appearance lets Lola blend within different urban contexts.

Lola has been conceived as a compact luminaire to light up the night and disappear at day. Its small head lets it perfectly integrate in different contests. The design remains elegant and simple, just a perfect balance between functionality and expressiveness. As a masterpiece of sustainable design it embraces the principle: less is more. Lola’s body is in die-cast aluminium to resist abrasions, corrosion and UV rays. All its components are completely recyclable and mercury-free. The radiator form and the fin feature for dispersing heat combine design and functionality in an elegant form

Lola uses original optics based on the patented total reflection system. The reflector captures and blends the light emission through the initial optical assembly and then uses a second one to cast it uniformly. It delivers uniform lighting, without creating dark spots or glare. The system is optimized for obtaining high standard of visual comfort avoiding dispersion of energy. Lola has an autodimming device to reduce power consumption in the middle of the night: adapting it energy saving suit lighting requirements. Lola has been designed to be integrated in light output management system.
