"It may be the time of year when green shoots are hard to find but our homes are taking a leaf out of the natural world with botanical inspired prints a key look for the spring and summer," says Sarah Quilliam, head of product design for Hillarys.

"Lush leaf prints are bang on the button while graphic, eye-catching black and white leaf motifs are a dramatic design statement and reflect the trend for monochromatic schemes.

"Botanical prints on roman or roller blinds are an easy way to give a fresh twist to bringing the outdoors in and create a striking focal point," adds Sarah.

"It is perhaps symbolic of our desire for a simpler life and a need for a stronger connection with the natural world. When times get tough it's goodbye to bling and too much opulence and a return to a more organic, holistic and nature-inspired feel in the home."

The colour green has been hailed as the on-trend colour for 2013 and is an easy way to give a fresh twist to bringing the outdoors in. It has always been symbolic of new life. Only now it will be giving new life to tired interiors.
