Inspired by the geometric pattern of the famous Scottish fabric, the Tartan suspension lamp is a new variation of the blown glass lamp, created by L+R Palomba together with Foscarini. Today, Tartan is also available in the new colour of cool grey: an original shade, created using blown, acid-etched glass that fully brings out the character of this lamp, further enriching the graphic effect of the criss-cross lines on its surface.
This product’s decisive, closely woven lines are a clear demonstration of Foscarini’s work in combining new technology with traditional glass craftsmanship, making it possible for an ancient material such as blown glass to become a showpiece of contemporary style.
Full of personality, the Tartan lamp is made using the technique of mouth blowing into a mould with a specific design engraved inside it. The result is a series of lines and folds tracing their way across the diffuser, creating a playful graphic effect using light and shadow. The acid etching used on the surface also gives the glass a soft, material-like effect, bringing real fabric to mind.
When the lamp is switched off, the new grey colour accentuates its decorative and elegant presence in the room, switch it on and its warm, soft light takes centre stage.
