Jo Littlefair London has created ‘Dipped’, a five-piece collection of handcrafted ceramic accessories to be launched at Decorex 2016 - and the first in a series of collections crafted in collaboration with leading UK artisans.

The luxury furniture and accessories brand has collaborated with an Essex-based ceramic artist to create this new collection of hand-crafted stoneware pinch pots and vases. The pinch pots are available in a combination of black or white stoneware with gold or copper detailing and are set on a small stoneware plinth, whilst the vases, a set of one medium and one large piece, have been designed with a lipped detail and dipped, accented gold streak. In line with this year’s Decorex theme - ‘the root of design’ - the collection was borne out of a desire to return to and focus on the processes of making, highlighting the intimacy between the maker and the material. The collection has been named ‘Dipped’ to reflect the way the gold or copper detailing has been added to the form.

The process that creates the vases is called coiling and is a considered, oft-repeated process which allows the pieces to evolve slowly over time and grow towards completion. The pinch pots are hand-crafted through a combination of press-molding and different methods of manipulating the clay, creating pieces with individual personality. The material and crafting processes result in delicate forms, formed by the human hand.

The ‘Dipped’ collection is the first in a series of accessories collections, all of which will be bespoke-created in collaboration with leading UK artisans, who have been personally-selected by the label’s founder and director Jo Littlefair. Each collection will be named to reflect the processes by which it has been created.
