Sage AV, a new UK business formed by an architecture trained designer, is launching with a range of hi-fi racks and stands hand crafted in the Cotswolds, designed for use by hi-fi enthusiasts who live in period homes.
Observing that the majority of existing hi-fi racks and stands are produced using modern designs which are largely unsympathetic to the surroundings of traditionally furnished properties, the company has developed a range of products using more fitting materials and finishes. Taking inspiration from the wrought iron work so often found in country cottages and period homes, the three launch products feature basket weave and spiral steel bars as part of their construction.
The speaker stands are available in two height variants, 30cm and 50cm for use with varying sizes of loudspeaker, and come with a choice of twist or weave finish on the solid steel uprights. The inherent high-mass construction is further enhanced by being supplied pre-assembled and welded, removing the need for fastenings, user assembly and most importantly, potential movement within the stand. The heavy gauge steel bottom plate is fitted with adjustable spikes and the top plate can be supplied with or without top spikes, depending on user preference.
A modular equipment rack has been developed to complement the speaker stands. Supplied as separate shelf units, which may specified in varying heights and any number, the rack is also substantially constructed from solid steel bar and comes with either wooden or glass shelves. The wooden versions are initially being supplied in oak, but other finishes will follow. Each individual shelf is mounted using heavy duty isolation fixings for optimum system performance and each shelf unit links to the other via steel spikes and sockets
