Dendrone is a table designed by Javier Olmeda in which complex geometries and digital fabrication technologies marry with simple materials to form a unique conversation piece. The name derives from its conception: dendrites found in nerve cells are captured trying to reach out and connect. Lightness and fluidity are achieved through an organic shape which resembles neural receptors, even thougn it is built with traditionally industrial materials (steel and glass).
Dendrone has been granted the noteable A’ Design Award in Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Category selected as one of the winners by the esteemed jury members of the A’ Design Awards & Competitions among a great number of submissions.
The A’ Design Award is a prestigious award given to top 20% percentile designs that has exhibited an exemplary level of excellence in design. The designs are judged by a panel of three different jury which is composed of Academic, Professional and Focus Group Members. The designs are evaluated with score normalization to remove any biases and are voted on aspects such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, fun details, technology, and any other specific points that could be considered, each of these points are further weighted for different jury groups.
