Immerse yourself in the season of spring with fresh botanical prints from Hot House Interiors.

Far from the standard mix of ‘chintzy’ florals, this interior trend captures a more subtle, understated aesthetic. With an innovative blend of simplistic foliage prints, you can be sure to evoke a natural sense of style, very reminiscent of Scandinavian design which is growing in popularity.

Olive green, mustard yellow and earthy red, set against neutral backdrops of grey and pewter are the core colourways that make up this trend. Following this format will allow the chosen prints to stand out, all the while creating texture with a delicate and playful look.

Available at Hot House Interiors, the Folia Collection by Harlequin (as pictured) features a wonderful array of botanical print fabrics and wallpapers that are perfect for creating a refreshing spring look.

Encapsulating this trend perfectly, the Folia collection features distinct leaf trails, beautiful berries, shapely fruit and nostalgic floral motifs that are delicate in detail but immense in character. As well as being joyful and lively, these designs are highly adaptable. With such muted colour palettes and subtle motifs this collection can be incorporated into almost any scheme from shabby chic and elegant luxury to contemporary and traditional interiors.

Louise Rocco, Managing Director and Interiors Stylist at Hot House gives her top tips on how to create this fresh, Scandinavian inspired look: “For me, I absolutely love this trend as it is so simple to achieve and looks great in any room of the house. To break up lots of patterned cushions incorporate blocks of colour in a similar palette. Opting for a fabric such as velvet provides a tactile depth to the look and also adds a touch of elegance.”

She continues “To create an authentic Scandinavian look, pair these botanical prints with lightly distressed wood furniture. This enhances the natural element brought to the design through the foliage prints, and creates a look that is light and fresh; perfect for spring”

“Finally, getting the balance of pattern right is crucial. Choosing plain and neutral sofa cushions or bed linen is a great way to complement patterned accessories without letting them overpower. Choosing a more subtle backdrop allows you to accessorise as much or as little as you like, and it also makes it easy to change the overall look come winter!”
