The CHEFT collection comprises of a bookshelf, table and kitchen stool and has been inspired by the Persian architectural patterns seen in domes of traditional houses. The beauty of these patterns lies in the fact that they serve both as geometrical structures and ornaments. The objects in this collection are seen as flexible yet rigid symmetrical patterns that are functional as well as decorative. All objects are constructed from sheet materials which makes it possible for alternatives to be created through minor alterations in the way the elements intersect. No nails, glue or screws are needed to assemble the objects. The bookshelf is made of twelve interlocking elements ,The meeting table is made of four interlocking elements and the kitchen stool is made of three interlocking elements.
The elements in all the three object slide in and out of each other through specifically designed grooves. The grooves of the bookshelf interlock to create a self supporting structure that stands on its own legs without the need to attach to walls, therefore ,it can also be used as a multifunctional room partitio, outdoors and indoors at home or office environments ,In the case of the meeting table The grooves interlock creating a self supporting structure, a 15mm thick glass sits on top of the table causing extra pressure which further locks the legs together. The kitchen stool with its three elements interlock at certain points to create an structural chair that sits on two legs. the grooves in the stool have been carefully calculated not to break under the body's pressure. All pieces can be stored flat to save space at home or office environments. It takes around 5 to 10 minutes to assemble each item of the collection. Minimal design, fast assembly and compact packaging makes these objects highly versatile, intrinsically mobile and easily manufactured in small and large scales.
The CHEFT collection was presented at the Salone Satellite, Salone Del Mobile in April 2015 in Milan and is now being manufactured by an Italian producer ,it will be available by order and can be shipped worldwide. The CHEFT bookshelf was also recently presented at Galerie JOSEPH during Paris design week part of the MAISON&OBJET design event in September 2015 in Paris.
