Cream-coloured sandstone with orange-brown veining due to the presence of iron oxide.

The percentage of quartz is greater than 95%, so it can be classified as a medium grain quartzarenite. The rock also includes a different series of additional minerals in smaller ratios, such as muscovite, biotite, plagioclase, chert and opaque minerals.

Grains are cemented by clay and secondary quartz.

Rocks are obtained in large blocks from the Las Cuerdas quarry, in Castrillo de la Reina (Burgos), where there are sedimentary blocks from the early cretaceous period that make up the Weald facies.

In the company’s workshop in Vilviestre del Pinar (Burgos), the blocks are cut into different sizes with a wide range of surface finishes such as saw cut, bush hammered, pitch-faced, etc.

It is most commonly used for facades, although its tones make it ideal for indoor surfacing.
