Mycelium
Mycelium

Designed specifically for Silo London & CRATE Brewery, in collaboration with Nina+Co. These light shades are made using wood waste which has been inoculated with mycelium. Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a mass branching and thread-like structure (hyphae).

These fibres easily bind to other materials, especially those which are organic. Each shade is created by the mycelium as it grows and binds with the waste material within a 3D printed mould. The shades only take five days to grow and the result is a product that is incredibly strong, surprisingly lightweight and compostable after use.

Medium: Ø 250mm H: 200mm

Large: Ø 500mm H: 400mm

(Includes Fixtures and 1.5m Cable)
