I’m happy when it rains…
Drops of rain… evanescent emergence of nature. An ever changing twinkling that can be admired but never retained, now frozen in space for the first time in one of the oldest and noblest materials made by humankind: porcelain. Like nature itself, porcelain escapes those who wish to force and control it, its mysteries rather waiting to be embraced and exploited anew with each individual form. As the nature of illumination is headed for a new era; the traditional decorative qualities of porcelain, its diffuse translucence and reflectance are reborn with a new purpose by LED. The brass suspension adds a further twist; once used in the realm of nautical and astronomic instruments of old, it is revived here in a decidedly contemporary form, an angular pattern derived from slicing a meteorite, diffusing the light.
