Hidden kitchens

Our studio has been approached by the client at the time when the majority of the main construction work was completed. We were given the task to design a number of architecturally exposed elements and small furniture to sort the existing layout. Furthermore, the family had a significant amount of historical furniture and accessories that should be part of the newly created interior. Therefore, the entire designing process was narrowed to solve a coloring of materials and the design of several atypical solitaires, especially the kitchen, storage space, radiator covers, upper gallery library, doors, design study and cloakroom for the lady of the house and bathroom designs including stand alone bathroom sink. The assignment was very interesting because we had to merge the bold design of IO Studio production and sensitively integrate it to the current "conservative" type of interior.

The kitchen is located in an open space with an area of 90m2, serving both as a family dining room and living room at the same time.

It consists of a rectangular part lined with natural stone and freestanding cooking organically shaped island made of Corian. The back rectangular part is tight to the front wall and uses its total length (7.6 m). In the right-hand end of the layout opposite to the entrance is a wardrobe that is made in the same design so it is united with a kitchen design. The back of the kitchen is fully clad with natural stone Port Laurent including frontal part of all drawers and doors, the door to the refrigerator and freezer. With this solution, we created a compact monoblock aesthetically and artistically using color of the distinctive stone artwork itself. The right part including wardrobe is accessible through sliding corian doors, plasticaly shaped and geometrically repeating parts. In the closed position it consists of four sliding doors of rectangular format with a intention of a compositionally communicate with a background of stone tile kitchen. Front organically shaped island is in contrast to the back of the "heavy" monoblock stone wall. Island is a dynamic and very fresh. The shape of the object grows from one part and most of the mass is floating above the floor. It is shaped very naturally and intuitively. It is based on the simple schema to depict the movement. It allows the design solution that is based on the principle of a single console.

This result of course, required highly skilled craftsmanship and advanced production technology.

The kitchen consists of a rectangular back section lined with natural stone and freestanding cooking organically shaped island. The length of the island is 4300 mm , the widest point is 960 mm wide and its height is 900 mm. Object is made of Corian Glacier white by using thermoform technology and the internal structure is designed in aluminum profiles. The countertop is made of natural stone. The rear portion of a rectangular kitchen has a length of 7600 mm. The left part has built-in refrigerator and freezer and to the right there is the storage space accessible through sliding doors. The rear of the kitchen is fully clad with natural stone Port Laurent including the front part of all the drawers, doors of the cabinets and doors of the refrigerator and freezer. With this solution we created a compact monoblock aesthetically and artistically capitalizes on color and distinctive stone artwork itself. Front organically shaped island is in contrast to the back of the "heavy" monoblock stone wall. Unlike the back part it acts dynamically and very lightly. The shape of the object comes from one point and most of the matter is floating above the floor. It is shaped very naturally and intuitively. Based on the simple diagram which depicts the movement .
