This design is part of our Designer Studio where we collaborate on designs with our friends in the world of Arts, this time with Lori Weatherly. She has been working in the field of interior design for over twenty years and presently heads the interior design studio at the highly regarded architectural and urban design firm of Cooper Robertson and Partners.
Lori's work in interior design was preceded by many years devoted to painting and fine art. She has maintained her interest and love of art and painting while exploring the application of material, color and pattern in the world of design. The connection between the visual language of painting and the application of texture, pattern, color and material to an interior has proven to be endlessly rewarding and engaging endeavor. In its understatement, this collection for Warp and Weft is a celebration of the components of the rug: the finest wool, craft, color, pattern and texture. The rugs are minimal by design to emphasize and appreciate their elements.
Her approach to crafting interiors is not unlike the process of building the layers in a painting. Knowing that the rug is a critical component to a room, she has designed clean and classic patterns that provide a soft yet structured beginning for a compelling a rich, possibly layered but certainly elegant place.
