Robin designed a small community of zero energy, passive solar homes near Yakima, Washington, and she is the founder of Solaripedia.com, an online resource for using solar energy in the built environment. She was a member of the North American committees that developed national model green home building guidelines and a national standard for commercial green buildings. She was the first director of Seattle’s residential Built Green environmental building program, and launched and coordinated the Built Green Washington consortium. Robin became a LEED AP in May 2002 and holds a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech. She believes sustainability is achievable by anyone through education and action - designers, engineers, landscapers, homeowners and others simply need information and inspiration about how to accomplish it. So she developed this website in conjunction with Cory Crocker of WebKey who designed the powerful database that supports the sharing of all this great data. SOLARIPEDIA is the result of her personal commitment to furthering sustainable built environments and it is strictly an online resource to keep the footprint as low as possible. It is organized under Global Swarming Limited Liability Corporation in Washington State, USA, formally established in 2008; our only revenue streams for Solaripedia are through the website ads, our bookstore and donations to the site.
