Claude Bérubé is French Canadian. He was born in Chicoutimi, Québec, Canada.
He was educated in Montréal, Canada and in Birmingham, UK where he received the “Higher Diploma in Art and Design” (master level) at the University of Aston in Birmingham (now Birmingham City University).
He is the president of Ove Design Solutions Inc., a multi-disciplinary design firm, started in Montréal, Canada in 1974.
In addition to his design practice, Claude Bérubé was the President of the Interiors Designers of Québec (SDIQ) for 3 years and of the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) for another 3 years. He was also the president of the Association of Industrial Designers of Québec (ADIQ). He is a Past-President of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) and the President of the Asia Pacific Design Center (APDC).
In 1997 he was elected to the College of Fellows of the International Interior Designer Association (FIIDA) in USA.
In Canada, Claude owned and operated Ove Design Interiors with up to 35 designers in office in Canada. Projects ranged from office design, exhibition design and products (mostly furniture). His duties ranged from getting the project and signing the contract to delivering the project and getting paid from a satisfied client. As a professional designer, Claude gave conferences on the practice of design in several countries, including Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, USA, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, South Africa and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Emirates in the Middle East. In the United Arab Emirates Claude was teaching Design at the American University of Sharjah and then, was selected to be the Head of the interior Architecture 300 students department of the Ajman University of Science and Technology before becoming the Head of Design for the Government of Sharjah in 2008.
Claude left the UAE in January 2010 to operate his developing nanotechnology and design enterprises in Malaysia and travels regularly to Shanghai. He is an adjunct Associate Professor at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Claude is fluent in French and English.
