Three office buildings rue du Charolais in Paris

DBL Architectes urbanistes as Architects

The three office buildings are to be constructed in the 12th district of Paris along little streets that are set back from the urban activity. Apart from providing a rational solution to an office plan design, the project’s goal is to bring an obvious urban quality to this lonely place.

Each of the facades enriches the urban experience. The size of these interventions refers to the city scale and exceeds the common façade grid of an office building. Urban events are therefore created.

Two large pink and blue colored panels mark and distinguish the plaza. They vaguely remind of billboards that animate the city. Oversized awnings contribute to the urban performance by appearing and disappearing following the appearance of the sun. Trees and vegetation run along façades and establish landscape continuity between the courtyard garden and the upper floors.

Each of the three buildings adresses to the urban fabric in its own way. However, all three having one theme in common (the façade grid), they create a diverse but unified space.

Together they confer a reputation on the neighborhood.
