Conceptual framework Some thirty years had passed since these Wickham Terrace medical rooms were last refurbished. A 90 square metre space required refitting to accommodate waiting room, reception and two consultation and examination rooms together with file storage and ancillary spaces.
Resolution Whilst the fundamentals of sound attenuation, privacy, lighting, climate control, and circulation are vital to the successful planning of medical consultancy rooms, it is the human quality of the spaces which dictates the success of the outcome.
A warm colour palette of reds and clear finished timber work softened with pale neutrals and quality textiles has produced a calm, yet durable environment. Parquetry flooring and timber wall paneling, whilst contemporary in detail provide reference to the ‘old Wickham Terrace’ medical rooms from last century. These historical references combined with the contemporary elements of Queensland Maple cabinets and red Irish goats hair carpet create a warm, eclectic environment for expectant mothers and their families.
