Kährs wood floor complements eclectic interior at St Nicholas’ Church

Kährs as Architects

Kährs Oak Hampshire wood flooring has been installed at St Nicholas’ Church in the centre of Nottingham. The stunning 272m² installation forms part of an extensive refurbishment project, designed by Mark Stewart, which included re-ordering of the entire church interior. Kährs one-strip wood flooring was installed over under-floor heating throughout the church and first floor balcony, by Capital Floors. All flooring was specified and supplied by Reflex Sports.

An Anglican church in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, St Nicholas’ dates back to the seventeenth century and was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1953. The re-ordering project has created a comfortable, welcoming and secure environment, where modern fittings, natural flooring and furnishings have been used seamlessly alongside the original architecture.

Part of Kährs European Naturals Collection, Kährs Oak Hampshire is a warm, honey-toned wood floor with a rustic grain and a durable satin lacquer prefinish. A multi-layered construction promotes stability, making it an ideal partner to underfloor heating. The construction method also uses natural resources in the most eco-friendly way, whilst providing a durable surface that’s easy to maintain and which can be completely resanded 2-3 times.
