Award winning Kährs floor specified at Edinburgh’s Hotel of the Year

Kährs as Architects

Kährs award-winning wood flooring has been specified as part of an extensive renovation of the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa. Recently named Edinburgh’s Hotel of the Year, in the Scottish Hotel Awards, the flagship Sheraton has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, led by Architects 3DReid, interior designers MKV and contractor Thomas Johnstone. Kährs Oak Lava was chosen to complement the stunning contemporary design throughout all public areas. Totalling over 770m2, they include the reception, conference suites, delegate rooms and the new ‘One Square’ restaurant and bar. All flooring was supplied and installed by GL Floors.

Situated in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa has been designed to appeal to both business and leisure travellers. Warm, natural tones have been used alongside elegant Scottish finishes to create a stylish, contemporary feel. Kährs Oak Lava flows throughout the expansive public areas, creating a warm, tactile look - whilst providing high performance benefits, including durability and easy maintenance.

Recently voted Best CFJ/CFA Wood Flooring Range for the eleventh time, by readers of Contract Flooring Journal - and by readers of Interiors Monthly for four consecutive years - Kahrs’ range features an eco-friendly multi layered construction and a glueless Woodloc® joint. The combination provides a fast, precise installation and an exceptionally stable, gap-free surface. Kährs Oak Lava is a three-strip European oak wood floor from the Harmony Collection. It features a lively grain and a brushed, matt lacquer pre-finish.
