TAUERN Spa - Zell am See

TAUERN Spa - Zell am See (Description)

ALPINE Bau GmbH as Contractors

A superlative wellness palace is being constructed in Kaprun as designed by the architects Skyline Architekten ZT GmbH. A spa with numerous swimming pools and wellness treatments, a four-star hotel and a wide variety of restaurants will be constructed on a total area of 48,500 m². The Spa Hotel and the Spa World will be connected by an elevator and an underground walkway.

The construction of this complex is particularly demanding as the object is founded up to 6 meters deep in ground water. Consequently, all elements will be constructed as a watertight trough. The ground’s load bearing capacity is also deficient which is why about 1,200 bore piles are needed, some of which have an overall length of up to 25 m. These will ensure the building’s stability and creeping strength. In this fashion, almost 45 km of bore piles will be driven into the ground. For the most part however, these piles act as floating piles in that the ground’s stability is insufficient despite these unusual dimensions.

Technical data Project area: 48,500 m² Excavation: 55,000 m³ Concrete: ca. 27,000 m³ Piles: ca. 45,000 m Sheet pile walls: ca. 5,400 m² Armoring: ca. 3,100 tons Cable: 120 km
