Aledo is a little village, in Murcia's mountain range, located between two hills on the top of a sheer massif. Its scenic-viewpoint square is full of stairs, ramps and gardens. These bridge a very uneven terrain and are made of a large variety of pavings which are the result of all the partial interventions that have been carried out throughout time. The main aim of this project is to clear the existing area and provide a wide and flexible open space. The current topography is brought together in three levels, creating spacious areas and strengthening the monuments and landscape around. The tracing of the pavement expresses the tension between monuments and landscape, and shows this relation by means of its own geometry; an unidirectional trace with Santa Maria Church and a centrifugal trace at the viewpoint to try and find the landmarks in the landscape. In order to solve the superficial finishing, we trust in recycling the debris generated by the demolition of the existing square pavement and use it, in the new proposal, as the aggregate of the concrete that will form the new finish.
