Zonamerica Technology and Business Park counts with a vast percentage of green, relaxing spaces, offered to the 8000 people who work in the diverse office buildings located there. But the need for a physical retail space that could vary in size and content was detected, and the intention to locate it in green spaces and plazas obliged that it was designed as an object seen from all sides. This ice-cream shop is the first materialization of a prototype designed to be repeated in several public spaces located at Zonamerica, in which the content may vary. The challenge was to create an object that could be slightly changed to be adapted to its possible uses and at the same time be sufficiently similar so that people could identify it as a place of consumption; all this in a Park that works hard to maintain “visual contamination” at minimum levels. The design solution was centered in the double skin façade, with a shiny bold colored isopanel wall and ceiling, and white metal mesh that covers the colored box, so that the color intensity is veiled, and this gives unity to all the elements of this type that could appear in the Park. The third element is the white tension fabric structure that gives sun and rain protection and with its curved design, breaks the rigidity of the box. The isopanel and tension fabric structure both work together to maximize thermal comfort both indoors and outdoors.
