In Lopez Resendez Studio we believe that Architecture should be a reflection of its environment and social evolution in order to posses its own identity related to its time and place where it belongs. Creating a dialogue with its surroundings in an optimistic and positive language of understanding for the times to come.
Luis López was born in 1979 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas Mexico. He received Bachelor of Engineer in Architecture from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey Mexico in 2001 and his Master of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 2007.
In 2001 he started an office named Muro Architects with a partner in Mexico, having offices in Reynosa and Monterrey for four years. Partnership was ended before he moved to Chicago Illinois. Muro Architects is still working in Mexico. At Illinois Institute of Technology he was the winner of Kimm Master Thesis Award for the Thesis of the year of the School of Architecture. Also he was the finalist of the Shiff Foundation Award. In 2006 his work was publish in the Sentinel Journal in Milwaukee for his intervention project of the Milwaukee Art Museum from Santiago Calatrava. In 2006 he worked for Krueck and Sexton in Chicago Illinois where he served as Internship on the winning competition project of The Chicago Children Museum .In 2008 he was a founded partner of LOPEZ_KATAGIRI ARCHITECTS in Monterrey, Mexico where he was teaching at University of Monterrey (UDEM). In 2010 Kazuya Katagiri moved back to Japan and Luis López started his own design studio with offices in McAllen Texas and Reynosa Mexico.
Kazuya Katagiri was born in 1981 in Iida City, Nagano Japan. He received Bachelor of Engineer in Architecture from Kogakuin University in Tokyo in 2004 and his Master of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 2007.At Kogakuin University he was the first prize winner of the Kogakuin University Final Project Competition and the second prize winner of All Tokyo Final Project Competition in Saitama. His final project was also exhibited at All Japan Student Exhibition, Lemon Gasui Student Exhibition, and JIA Student Exhibition. At Illinois Institute of Technology he was the winner of Kimm Master’s Thesis Fellowship for the top thesis student of the School of Architecture. Also he was the finalist of the Shiff Foundation Fellowship. In 2006 he worked for nARCHITECTS in New York City where he served as Internship on the winning competition project of Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, and AIA award winning project of Wind Shape in Lacoste, France. In 2008 he was a founded partner of LOPEZ_KATAGIRI ARCHITECTS in Monterrey, Mexico where he was teaching at University of Monterrey (UDEM). In 2010 he moved back to Tokyo Japan and started working for Kengo Kuma and Associates. He is still a collaborator in López_Reséndez STUDIO.
Julio Alonso De León Garza graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 2008. Julio won the 1st Price in Cátedra Luis Barragán Competition “Master Plan Andares” in 2007. Also 1st Price in Competition “Casa de la Siembra Cultural Valle de la Sierra” in 2008. He was finalist in the same competition one year before with the Project “Casa Cumbres San Angel”. Julio participate with a group of students in the Project “Museo de San Nicolás de los Garza” where they got the Honorable Mention in 2008. From 2006 to 2008 he worked for Solido ARQ as designer and construction supervisor. Later on in 2008 he worked for the firm Green Room as designer and developer of digital presentations. Julio join the team of López_Reséndez STUDIO in 2009.
Samantha Nunez graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 2004, and in 2008 she got a Diploma in Interior Design by Arte AC University. In 2007 she got a Diploma in Project Administration by Escala. Samantha started working in 2004 for Geométrica de Monterrey as designer, construction supervisor and project administration. From 2005 to 2007 she worked for Veranda Interioristas developing interior design, furniture design and project supervision, later on in 2008 she worked for Espacio Inteligente developing interior design for comercial and institutional purposes. Samantha join López_Reséndez STUDIO in 2010.
