blingCRETE - the retro reflecting concrete
blingCRETE is based on the idea and design of Prof. H. Klussmann, produced by Hering Bau and the Material Quantz, developed by G.tecz. By using a special formwork, glass-pearls are embeded in a way that those will reflect the light directly in the direction the light-source comes from. The pearls are embedded in Quantz, that is a cement bonded, nano-optimzed High-Tech material that belongs to the class of ultra high performace concretes. With the mechanical properties of the material Quantz, the pearls are embedded tight, surfaces will be water-proof without additional coatings, freeze&thaw resistanze is given and enables floorings as well as light facade panels - Quantz matrix does have a flexural strength of about 20 MPa without fibres and a compressive strength of about 165 Mpa. In combination, blingCRETE is a tough in- and outdoor design-driving product.
The Reasearch and Development project from the 3 partners: university of Kassel, Hering Bau and G.tecz is succesfully transfered into business: Applications can be walls, floors or path-finding systems.
