A-ZERO architects

A-ZERO is a RIBA chartered architectural practice with an expertise in sustainable design. Working at a range of scales and typologies from one-off houses to university master-plans, we aim to create projects which are both responsive and responsible. By responsive we mean that in addition to responding to historical and cultural context, each building should consider environmental context. In practical terms this means considering the role of daylight, air and heat in reducing the building’s reliance on mechanical systems to create comfortable environments. By responsible, we mean that our buildings should be put together using systems of construction and materials which have a measurably reduced impact on the environment either in their production or their transport. This can mean many things for different projects, but we think of it as a ‘filter’ through which many of our ideas must pass. A-ZERO is a team of architects who have a particular interest in sustainable environmental design. This is a broad subject, but our team has a broad background from environmental consultancy on award winning low energy buildings, to social enterprise foundations, to self-build of locally harvested materials. We believe in a collaborative approach to design, and value collaboration with clients and consultants throughout the design process.
