WORKUS Studio
Jeffery S. Poss, FAIA is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He received his Master of Architecture from the school in1980. In the years following he practiced with Skidmore Owings and Merrill, Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates, and Tai Soo Kim Partners.
In 1989 he returned to Urbana-Champaign to begin teaching and practicing architecture. Studio teaching has focused on the development of concept, materials, and detail into architectural design, including design-build structures, furniture design, and the exploration of whole-to-part relationships in architecture, which received the AIA Education Honors Award.
His eponymous firm Jeffery S Poss Architect has designed and completed award-winning proposals for residences, interiors, memorials, pavilions, and most recently, flat-pac and ecological architecture. His commissioned and competition work has been published in numerous journals and magazines in print and online.
In the last three years, Jeffery S Poss Architect has collaborated with WORKUS Studio LLC to develop a series of residential projects at a variety of scales.
WORKUS Studio was founded in 2010 by Ryan Sarros and Jesse Haas. Ryan and Jesse each received a Master of Architecture degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009, with honors that include the AIA Chicago Prize in Architecture and an invitation to travel abroad with Architect Kengo Kuma in 2008.
Based in Chicago and equipped to work globally, WORKUS Studio is on the forefront of a new mode of production, coordination, and collaboration. They have expanded their network to not only award winning architecture firms, but to working with global corporations such as Avon Products and Walgreens, and even circled back to complete work for their Alma Matter. This concept has proven successful especially through their work with Jeffery Poss, developing high-caliber designs located in Champaign, New York, Washington D.C., and Australia.
Every WORKUS venture presents exciting challenges, new experiences, and new working relationships. As a result of working with a wide variety of professionals and practitioners, WORKUS Studio has developed a diverse body of work which includes; sustainable portables, experimental furniture design, meticulously crafted miniature models, award-winning competition entries, and thought-provoking residential projects.
