Verstas Architects

VERSTAS Architects is a Helsinki based architecture practice founded in 2004 by architects Väinö Nikkilä (b.1980), Jussi Palva (b. 1974), Riina Palva (b. 1976) and Ilkka Salminen (b. 1980). The office currently employs 17 people. VERSTAS' designs range from private houses to large residential, commercial and public buildings. Current projects include Saunalahti school, Espoo, Finland (completion 2012), office and apartment block in Töölönlahti, central Helsinki (completion 2014) and Tikkurila church and parish centre, Vantaa, Finland (completion 2014). VERSTAS has won ten first prizes and numerous other prizes and mentions in Finnish and international architecture competitions. In 2011, Kirkkojärvi school was selected as a winning building in the International Architecture Awards and VERSTAS was honored as a ”40 under 40, Europe’s leading emerging young architects and designers” laureate by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
