Stattmann Neue Moebel

Our workshop is situated in the countryside in the midst of meadows and fields, close to the village of Ascheberg in Westphalia. The firm was established by our great-grandfather, August Stattmann, on May 5, 1896, and has been owned by the family ever since. In 1968, our father Josef took over the joinery, supported by his brother August, who ran the carpenter’s workshop for many years. Our father extended the production of furniture and gained a reputation for high quality interiors and fittings across Germany.Today, we – Nicola and Oliver Stattmann – are the fourth generation to work in the family business and we have started our label Stattmann Neue Moebel in spring 2012. Both of us have taken an interest in woodworking early on and we both went through traditional apprenticeships. Oliver has been working in the family workshop as a master cabinetmaker and wood technician since 2004 and is now leading the company. In addition to interiors for private houses, hotels, shops, offices, and yachts, and construction for trade fair booths all products for the Stattmann Neue Moebel label are manufactured here. Oliver attaches great importance to high quality craftsmanship. He is responsible for the addition of computer-aided machines. Over the generations, the Stattmann workshop has been very committed to providing a good education for its apprentices who often stay with the company for a long time. Nicola studied product design at the Academy of Fine Arts Saar in Saarbrücken and started specialising in new materials in her diploma thesis. Her studio in Frankfurt is known for its expertise in innovative materials and technologies and counts companies like Samsung, Volkswagen and Fissler among its clients. Nicola has published three books on materials and has been teaching product design since 2003 at schools such as the School of Art and Design Kassel, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. She is responsible for the art direction of Stattmann Neue Moebel and supports the designers and cabinet makers with her know-how and experience in product development
