Innovative and sustainable contemporary architecture Roula Kotsilati was born in Athens, Greece. She studied Architecture at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK (BA Arch, Honors) and South Bank University in London, UK acquiring PG Dip Arch with Honors (2001). After finishing her studies she worked with Anamorphosis Architects and participated in International exhibitions and competitions including the 1st International Biennale of Architecture Rotterdam (2003), the "Snow Show" International exhibition in Finland (2004) and the 50th International Venice Biennale. Roula Kotsilati Architecture was founded by Roula Kotsilati in 2004 in Athens, Greece. Her work, which arpires harmony of architecture and bioclimatic design, often adopts elements from ancient Greek Architecture combined with modern design. In 2013 her project with Vangelis Hatzis "Five Houses at Parnassus Mountain" was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2013 and presented at ‘’Energy Athens’’ Exhibition, organized by the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies in collaboration with Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. The same year the project was Shortlisted at the Mediterranean Sustainable Architecture Awards, MEA2013, and presented among 100 projects that received the highest score in the exhibition "Panorama of Greek Architecture 2013" oganized by Domes International Review of Architecture. Jury members were Inaki Abalos (Harvard University), Alberto Ferlenga (IUAV of Venice) and Kenneth Frampton (Columbia University). Her work has been published in several magazines in Greece and abroad. Other of her interests include painting, photography and sailing. She has been a member of the first female offsore sailing crew in Greece.
