Paul Crosby Architect is a small practice based in Kendal, Cumbria, specialising in the repair and conservation of historic buildings. We are proud to have an expanding work-load in both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks for private and public clients. Our practice is gaining a reputation for sustainable design and innovation in new build in addition to our continued passionate belief that the honest repair of historic buildings can be done in a sensitive and appropriate way once the language and nature of the building and its historic significance is fully understood. Each project however large or small is developed through an understanding of the building's character, its environment and an understanding of the materials and techniques, whether vernacular or stylistic. We believe that the best results are produced from this fundamental understanding of the existing building where present, and the setting but also through a strong working relationship with our clients and their consultants. Architectural design is not about the capital 'A' but about the process. To produce a successful building or structure you must use appropiate materials, provide fitness for purpose and create a thing of beauty. All must be integrated to form the whole.
