:mlzd was set up in Bienne (Switzerland) in 1997 as team of several architects. Our work covers a very broad range, from urban development to matters of detail and from industrial projects through to museum ones. We have deliberately opted for variety in staffing our office of around twenty with individuals representing different cultures, ages and experience, which promotes a multifaceted office culture. The lively internal debate gives birth to many different kinds of project, but these have one element in common: total dedication to the location and job entrusted to us. :mlzd has already won more than fifty competition awards, and more than twenty of these projects have also been realised. The most important jobs it has handled include the extension of the Historisches Museum in Berne (2001-2009) and the room adjacent to the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York, which was ceremonially opened in 2004 in the presence of the then Swiss president, Joseph Deiss, and the General Secretary of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.
