Lekker Design

We are a Singapore-based practice specializing in buildings and environments. Co-founders Ong Ker-Shing and Joshua Comaroff began working together as Lekker Design in 2002, after studying architecture and landscape at Harvard University. Our approach combines the specific requirements of the client with a range of ongoing explorations in geometry, in material and detail, and in architectural meanings and typologies. These do not result in a signature style so much as a way of thinking about how the elements of a building might go together. We work for a range of private individuals and firms, including Hermès, JTC, Eu Yan Sang and The Hour Glass. Institutional clients include Yale University-National University of Singapore, Singapore Biennale, The National Parks Board (NParks), in addition to many Singapore government agencies and councils. Recent projects have included houses and landscapes, as well as master planning and furniture design. We remain interested in research and writing projects, and the intersection of academia and practice. Having recently published a book of architectural history and theory, we are now working on a study commissioned by the Lien Foundation to imagine ten preschool buildings for unusual sites.
