Namaste, Just as the most influential artists of the 20th century said, my journey, too, began with a simple idea. A desire to express myself. To create something unique out of the natural elements, using my skill, craft and knowledge. I remember our very first assignment was a line inspired by the coronation chair of the Ming Dynasty. By the time we were done with the sawing, joining and polishing, I knew it was the beginning of a dream; of ‘something else’! HOUSE OF DESIGN started in my parents’ garage back in 2000, with some essential tools and two workmen who were as enthusiastic about the idea as I was. Together we designed, drew, cut, sawed and chiseled our way to create a design company. Over the last 14 years, our small ‘idea’ has grown into a state-of-the-art furniture design and manufacturing unit, spread over a few thousand square feet. We are a team of 63 full time employees and several partners and vendors. We use the best of equipment and latest technology and at present, are one of the few furniture design houses in India with a captive 5 axis router. We may have grown in scale but we remain a ‘peoples’ company’ at heart. A team that is committed to quality and responsible design. I welcome you to my world. You may find it classic or contemporary, sometimes bold, sometimes eccentric, sometimes daring, but always, always genuine and honest. At least that is my hope, Knock on Wood.
