Jun’ichi Ito was born in Hokkaido, Japan where he earned a Diploma in Architecture from Kogakuin University and Master of degree in the art from Tokyo University of the Arts. He first worked in the Tokyo office of Cesar Pelli as project Designer for several buildings, including the urban design and large-scale projects such as re-development and skyscraper. After, he worked in the U.S.A head office of Cesar Pelli as project Designer for Mitsui Tower including the Mitsui Headquarter which is one of largest companies in Japan and Mandarin-Oriental Hotel Tokyo of the world’s only six stars hotel.

In 2002, Mr. Ito founded Jun’ichi Ito Architect & Associates. The firm has designed various scale and types from residence and urban design. He has avoided formalistic preconceptions in his designs. He believes that buildings should be responsible citizens and that the aesthetic qualities of a building should grow from the specific characteristics of each project such as its location, its construction technology, and its purpose. In search of the most appropriate response to each project, his designs have covered a wide range of solutions and materials.

In 2008, Mr. Ito completed course in Ph.D Program without dissertation in Architecture in The University of Tokyo. He studied a survey of design techniques and research to preserve and reuse of historical heritage buildings in Asia. Since 2004, He has a lecture on architecture at several universities. He was invited as guest lecturers gave a lectures and teaching design at an international workshop in Asian countries In2011, He held a Town heritage Workshop for children in Tokyo, Mr. Ito was given the prize of the Association of Children's Environment.

From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Ito was the international Committee member of the JIA. In 2010, he was the executive board member of JIA Kanto-Chapter. Further, From 2011 to present, He was the executive board member of Architects Regional Council of ASIA (ARCASIA) , which is composed of the Institute of Architects in 18 countries of ASIA.

In 2000, Mr. Ito was awarded by “The House without outlines ” in Takiron International Competition(Judged by Kazuyo Sejima) . In 2007, Mitsui Tower won Good Design Award and selected Architectural Designs 2007 by Architectural Institute of Japan. In 2010, Edogawa Garage Club Renovation won Good Design Award. In 2011, The Japan Institute of Architects selected Mr. Ito as one of the contemporary architect by TSR building. Mr. Ito’s work have been widely publishing and internet web-site not only Japan but around the world.
