Studio JKL

Studio JKL is a multidisciplinary creative studio that operates on the boarder of art and design. On one hand art and design seem to be two different categories, but at Studio JKL this boarder seems to be vague. Studio JKL is a creative lab of artist Jan Koen Lomans; with the focus on craftsmanship and innovation. Main theme of his work are on nature based organic forms. Lomans works together/collaborates with different organisations such as the TextileLab at the Dutch Textile Museum. The use, or reuse, of craftsmanship go hand in hand in Lomans' work. Especially old textile techniques as weaving and Tufting. Next to the use of crafts Lomans is continuously looking for innovative ways to create new work methods. Experimenting with modern techniques such as graphic laser machines, 3D printing, 5-axis milling and LED light. In this way Lomans tries to make his themes and moods palpable. Recently Lomans was exhibiting his work at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Central Museum in Utrecht.
