dRMM, a London based studio of architects and designers, was founded by Alex de Rijke, Philip Marsh and Sadie Morgan in 1995. The practice takes pride in carrying out work that is innovative, high quality and socially useful. We have a track record of creating extraordinary architecture within the standard constraints of the construction industry. Our radical projects are led by site, client needs, concept and construction, rather than formulaic or style-based decisions. All of dRMM's completed projects have received critical acclaim and professional recognition. Our first project, No. one Centaur Street, won eight awards including 'RIBA London Building of the Year' and was described by Jonathan Glancey in the Guardian as "a minor masterpiece". BD awarded dRMM 'Public Housing Architect of the Year 2006' for Wansey Street Housing; the unique Sliding House - a house that moves - was awarded an RIBA East Award; and Clapham Manor Primary School lately scooped a Civic Trust Award. dRMM's Kingsdale School transformation project is widely regarded as a technical and architectural tour de force. The school features a 'variable skin' ETFE light-controlling roof, the world's largest at time of construction, and includes several innovative engineered timber buildings. This experimental project set new standards in the world of education architecture, and has positioned dRMM as design leaders in the field of sustainability. Current education projects include pilot projects for Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education and dRMM has also been appointed to Catalyst Lend Lease's Local Education Partnership (LEP) to redevelop Birmingham's primary and secondary school stock. Housing in development includes 160 residential and commercial units for Kings Cross Central as part of one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe; high rise housing in Western Norway in collaboration with Helen & Hard Architects; plus detailed design proposals for a key element of the Stratford City North residential masterplan that will provide the Athletes' Village for the 2012 London Olympics.
