Who we are Designtree began late one night in a small studio in industrial Wellington. Rebecca and I were both running our own design practises from our shared studio. “Why not just amalgamate it all into one entity?” Rebecca asked. I read between the lines and a few months later asked her to marry me. She said yes but she was also serious about joining our companies together. This also made total sense, so we did and we’re really excited to be seeding Designtree from a union of our experience and skills. We are now growing to collaborate with other designers and institutions and build a solid body of thoughtful and beautiful work. What we do We are a design studio focused on developing innovative furniture and lighting concepts for the home and office environment. We also work closely with a variety of clients on their interior/exterior projects and commission work. Our area of interest is developing solutions that contribute to social and environmental well being. At Designtree, we are constantly looking for ways to innovate and make the stuff we make better. Designtee is a flexible design studio. Rebecca and I work with established and emerging designers as well as graduates to keep things fresh. It’s an exciting and diverse place to be – the work is often challenging but seldom boring. Our mission Our mission is to reconnect people with their possessions. Our pieces are designed to age gracefully so people can develop rewarding and lasting relationships with them. We strive to make products that resist obsolescence, and use materials and process that reflect our respect for our customers, ourselves and our surroundings.
